Top Techno Songs August 2014 – This month’s top techno starts off with a track from Yan Cook off the Berg EP, a remix of “Mill” from Jeff Rushin and Nicole Rosie. Next we move into another remix, this one of Tobias‘ “If” by Mathew Jonson and The Mole featured on the remixes ep from Tobias’ latest album A Series of Shocks on Ostgut Ton. This song has a real light and quirky breakbeat feel.

Next we have some new material from Regis on his own Downwards label which feels like a dark and erie return to his earlier works. Now a deeper track from Truss “Auden (Svreca Remix)” off the Clytha 12″. A great release also with a Tommy Four Seven remix of the title track.

Cassegrain makes their way on this top techno with another release on Prologue, Blood Distributed as Pure Color. A quick release following the brilliant double 12″ Tiamat and the strong Tiamat Remixes and this one’s just as haunting and moving as ever.

The never compromising sounds of L.A.’s Developer find there way onto this months top techno twice. He recently released his debut album, In Pure Form, on his own label Modularz. Rather than take the default techno album route of ambient sounds sandwiched by club tracks or a complete conceptual listening album, Developer stuck to his guns and released 25 respectable, up-front techno heaters all named In Pure Form. He then subsequently released In Pure Form Part 1, 2, and 3 on 12″ vinyl. Both tracks here, “In Pure Form 10” and “In Pure Form 11” appear on the Part 3 release.

Oscar Mulero & Christian Wünsch again team up as Spherical Coordinates for their latest release on Token Records Kinematics Equations. The track appearing here, Scfgm-19, is definitely the deepest and mirror’s their first release on Token the Vector Projection EP.

Next we see a great remix from Silent Servant in his signature sound. “The 12th Planet” appears on the remix EP for Exium‘s album A Sensible Alternative to Emotion, a favorite techno album from last year. Also included this month is “Open Air,” a track from Audio Injection‘s Recall EP on Detroit’s own Blank Code.

Top Techno available to listen and download above, on iTunes at the Dj Frequencies Podcast and on Mixcloud.

Each episode contains the top techno songs I am playing and listening to for the month. The tracks are not ordered according to favorites. Rather than just listing songs for the month, I enjoy putting them together as a mix so the tracks are arranged to allow cohesion. This also means some music may be excluded because it just didn’t seem to fit into the mix. The majority of the music is straight techno but the songs may sway into other electronic music genres as well. Most songs will be current, new releases, though some ol’ school tracks or releases I may have slept on may pop up here and there–whatever is relevant to me at the moment. Share, enjoy and support the artists.
