Top Techno Songs April 2015

Top Techno Songs April 2015 – This month is a special edition for Top Techno. First we have two tracks included this month in which I was solely introduced to the music from connections through this blog. This is a first for our Top techno series. One of those tracks happens to be a yet unreleased exclusive here on DjFrequencies.com. We get a huge amount of music submissions these days and over the years, to be honest, most of the submissions were either shit or just did not fit into the scope of our interests. Lately though, we have been receiving some very stellar work from new an upcoming labels and artists.

First up is the track “116” from Black Sun on the Suck House Lovers label based in Rome, Italy. The EP is entitled 6M and is the labels eighth release. “116” is a slow, dark minimal track that comes in at, well, 116 bpm. “116” slowly builds it’s measures with additional elements and highs, in time formulating a funky, slow piece of techno. The remainder of the 6M release is also filled with slower grooved techno, though in a higher, more dancy bpm range, all staying with in the dark, minimal realm.

Next we continue with the slow, deep grooves with “Untitled 2” from Allan Nonamaka on the fantastic Meatsteel 1/6 album on Subsist. This album including various artists is a limited edition release including a wide range of techno. You can hear other, more minimal oblique tracks such as “Untitled 2” but also a good dose of high-energy dancefloor edits such as Pulse One – It’s what I am (Pfirter Edit).

[Apologies as there is an audio glitch in the recording early in the mix around the 7 minute mark. Time constraints left me without the opportunity to re-record.]

Up next is the atmospheric track “Icore” by Claudio PRC & Ness (TGP) on Dino Sabatini‘s Outis Music label. Which leads into the unmistakably devious and diverse track “Inverse Array 1” by Sendai. The track appears on the final chapter of Stroboscopic Artefacts 5 Years releases, V – Five Years Of Artefacts – Chapter Five, and Lucy saved one of the best for last. This track is just an amazing piece of production — spanning hard techno, breaks and electro all wrapped into one.

The mix continues the pace with “Difficult Cut” off the newest Blank Code release, Churn. The EP also includes three more worthy tracks including the title cut and a remix by Dj Hyperactive.

Next is the DjFrequencies exclusive un-released track “Pensiero” from Alfredo Mazzilli. The track appears on the EP by the same name on the Truth or Consequences label, also from Rome. Alfredo is a young artist showcasing his passion with a deep, rolling bassline. The Pensiero EP will be the fourth release from the new label with the third release from the label head himself, Francesco Belfiore, available for pre-order now.

I make a somewhat odd transition into an absolute jacker from Dj Hyperactive.Venus (Truncate Remix)” appearing on the Venus Revisited release on Chris Liebing’s CLR label.

We move into another track off the Meatsteel 1/6 album, “Desaft (David Reina Version 3)” from Elektrabel. A simplistic yet pounding track that can find itself nicely into many sets.

The next two tracks are both from Monolake‘s latest release I A on his own Imbalance Computer Music imprint. Both tracks in similar fashion yet just too good not to share both. We start with “Alto” and follow with “Icarus,” both genious mixture’s of techno and electronica with drum n bass roots. Upon first listen this EP reminded me of Monolake’s 12″ release in 2009 Atlas-Titan — building from the fantastic album Silence while adding new styles and energy found on Ghosts.

Lastly we leave you with “V8” from In Aeternam Vale on the latest Jealous God release mixed with the final ambient section of the Monolake track “Icarus.”

Enjoy!

Top Techno available to listen and download above, on iTunes at the Dj Frequencies Podcast and on Mixcloud.

Each episode contains the top techno songs I am playing and listening to for the month. The tracks are not ordered according to favorites. Rather than just listing songs for the month, I enjoy putting them together as a mix so the tracks are arranged to allow cohesion. This also means some of my favorite songs may be excluded because they just didn’t fit into the mix. The majority of the music is straight techno but songs may sway into other electronic music genres. Most songs will be new releases though some ol’ school tracks or releases I may have slept on may pop up here and there–whatever is relevant to me at the moment. Share, enjoy and support the artists.
