Charivari Detroit 2017 – The Charivari Detroit electronic music festival returns for its fourth year, taking place Friday August 4th through Sunday August 6th. Now at a new location West Riverfront Park, located along West Jefferson Avenue between Rosa Parks Boulevard and Joe Louis Arena, with the Detroit skyline and Ambassador Bridge as backdrops, is a 20-acre green oasis that features an extra-wide River Walk, three pathways linking the waterfront to neighborhoods, security cameras, call boxes, benches, bike racks and plenty of wide-open space for activities.

Charivari has continued to stay true to it’s origins by showcasing the best local talent Detroit has to offer. Historically “Charivari,” a word dating back to the Middle Ages was used to describe a loud public ritual. Those familiar with the roots of Detroit Techno itself will recognize the name from the A Number of Names track “Sharevari.” Thought of as one of the, if not the first Detroit Techno track to hit the streets. The name evolved from the legendary Charivari parties that began attracting a cult following in 1980 and was a tribute to Detroit’s high school party scene.
Charivari has announced the initial lineup for the Detroit festival and sounds like there’s still more great acts to come.

Charivari Detroit has announced the performance schedule for 2017. The Detroit house and techno festival will feature three stages across three days. The party gets started at 5pm to 10pm Friday evening with acts on two stages. Saturday kicks off a full day of music from 2pm-11pm and Sunday rounds it out with another full day of music from 2pm-10pm.

There are no ‘official’ Charivari Detroit after parties for 2017, but there are a few choices to keep the party going after the festival ends this weekend.

This is a truly exceptional lineup. Seriously looking at three incredible days filled with local talent and some absolute starts. Further considering the venue, this would have to be one of the best festivals in recent memory – cannot wait to get around it.
