Dj Frequencies is a techno and electronic music journal developed and maintained by BlakeAndrew, an underground techno advocate, activist, event enthusiast, and from time to time a dj/producer.
I do not intend for this site to cover all genres of electronic music though I may branch out into other styles if I believe the music is good. For all practical purposes I’m an ol’ school techno cat. I grew up and still reside in Michigan. I got my techno education from the warehouses of Detroit and I will always have a love and a passion for Detroit and the amazing artists and music it produces.
I want to see talented techno producers be able to survive from fans consuming their music. However I have yet to see a true benefit to the music and the artists that I believe built and continue to hold it’s foundation from the acceptance of the populous.
I believe true techno should, and will always, remain underground. .

I originally started this blog as an extension of a website that originated as a creative outlet for electronic music. The blog has evolved over the years and was previously known as Twilight Frequencies. As the blog continued to evolve it became a much bigger part of my focus and soon overtook the original intent of my website. I’ve migrated the site several times and I believe it has now found a solid home and focus.
From time to time I do invite posts from other artists and writers. For some time this site was co-authored by my good friend Ryan Boos. Ryan is also a DIY producer known as Nomadic Firs and operates his own blog Acres. His is also still an editor here at Dj Frequencies so it would not be out of the question to see his posts as well.
Dj Frequencies aims to be an online resource for compelling techno and electronic music news, reviews, technology, music production software and gear, production tips, tricks and tutorials, and all around music culture. We have focused greatly on covering electronic music festivals and events.
We also supply an intermittent free music podcast which includes my Top Ten Techno series, showcasing the top techno tracks for the month.
